About

Young audiences should play an active role in shaping digital journalism, helping to ensure new formats resonate and hit the right tone.

Hi, I’m Clara from Berlin ———————————————————————
I like to find creativity on a 10h-train through Europe, waiting at the airport or scribbling notes in a café abroad. I produce slow journalism, while living a fast-paced life. My focus has evolved from climate and mobility topics to social justice, gender, and, ultimately, the all-encompassing issue of addiction. I’m into science journalism because I like to break down complex themes in a fresh and engaging way.

Subletting my apartment for a few months every year to work and travel abroad has become the norm. I always take my running shoes and while some people buy an apartment, I’m excited about acquiring my first snowboard.

As a young journalist, I see myself as part of a politicised target audience that increasingly wants to — and should — be addressed. I know how formats and hooks work for web-first because I consume this journalism myself. I like to familiarise myself with new things and dig deep. I am used to working flexibly and trilingually in German, English and French.

I want to keep growing in the field of video production and build on each month’s experience to improve the next. I love and need a challenge and this definitely is one: Journalists play a decisive role in the perceptions people form of social and political developments. But what are we doing if we don’t reach the audiences that will ultimately shape our future?! I want to be part of this and believe that I can provide a new perspective as a young, open-minded journalist with an Eastern-German background.
